"I'm Batman!"

I(!)... am not Batman....

But this is drawing of Batman.

It's not the same.

Zombie Revue

Drew a Johnny Cash Zombie. Took me a little time to do, but I'm really pretty proud of it. I've been on a Zombie kick lately (along with other horror-centric monsters) and doing this was bangin' around my noodle for a while. I think I might want to prints of this one, but we'll see.

Notes

Lately I've been listening to a lot of rootsy folk-punk stuff. Lucero. The Gaslight Anthem. Elliot BROOD. That kind of stuff. A lot of drawings have been really reflective of that kind of stuff.

Lately a lot of my drawing has been some loose doodles from a pocket sketchbook. Sometimes its nice to go with a smaller sketchbook every now and then. The drawings seem to become more of a flood of concepts and ideas. Little things that you can have fun with, and the smaller page size feels less intimidating than a big ol' 14"x17".

Anyway. A lot of loose sketching for now. Trying to make some things happen art-wise soon. Hopefully I'll have more for anyone reading this sooner rather than later.

Oh, and have you seen True Grit yet? You really should

THUNDER & LIGHTNING!

Oh yeah, look who's rocking' the sketch blog! ME!! So this is a beginning of sorts, you see, if you know me, you may know that i am a rather exuberant fan of Thor, both the Marvel comics character and the mythical Norse God. And as excitement builds for the upcoming movie (May 6) so my own exuberance builds. So today's sketch is a first of what I can only think will be many, many daily sketches that are very Thor-themed.(i wanna do a whole week of Thor fighting ridiculous things).

So I hope you're all as excited as I am about all the Asgardian-ness sure to come our way in the coming weeks!

Plus, he's just so damned fun to draw!

NOT Blowing it (sorta)!

Wow, so I'm only sorta mostly dropping the ball on this whole daily sketchblog thing, BUT(!) I will say that I have been busy doing arty things! I did I drawing for a poster the other day, seen above in both sketch and classy-color form(!) and I gotta lot of stuff in the works! Including a lot of work I'm doing for an art show hosted by my buddy Nate!

In other news, I believe Dave is setting up another blog page specifically devoted to our (ahem) "Daily Sketches" where we will post too. I don't really know how to get there just yet, but keep an eye out and I'll keep you updated. Also, I believe our good friend Andrew will be getting in on the shenanigans with Dave and I, so this other page will be a great one stop shop for some sweet doodle action ("That's what she said""HA!") That said I will also be updating this page as well with my stuff, so if you're a monogamous blogger, you don't have to worry about missing my sweet stuff.

So regarding the art show, I'll give more details later, but if you happen to be in Edmonton on Sat. Apr 16 at about 5ish, come by Brixx Bar and Grill . Subtle, huh.

Also, I just want to say with no small amount of excitement that we only (at time of typing this) 32 days, 1 hour, 39 minutes and 50 seconds away from THOR! And he's already showing up on the Dr. Pepper bottles! Exciting isn't it?!

Anyways, keep your axes sharp

Sketch 4: It's a Wolver-doodle!

So as promised, (and in darn fine time, too) I present a second sketch today and announce that I am all caught up! Dave and I are both huge Marvel zombie's, and we clearly love drawing men in tights, so expect a fair amount of Marvel comic characters in the coming weeks. I'm already getting giddy over upcoming Thor sketches. For now, here's some angry Wolverine awesomeness.

And a huge thanks to my girlfriend for helping customize my page. Ain't she a pip?

Daily Sketchblog, Day 3 (ish)

Hey everyone!

Hope you had a kickin' weekend (that's right, I'm taking 'Kickin'' back). So i know I didn't post yesterday, but I got busy. A friend is in town from Saskatchewan and the Sheena and I were playing host's with the most's. Anyhoo, Dave did not disappoint and posted a Daredevil sketch, and I needed to match. I think I'll try to do another sketch tonight to catch up.

Oh, also, the new Amon Amarth album came out today. Buy it. It's the soundtrack to bludgeoning someone with an axe.

Also also... I spelled 'bludgeoning' correctly on the first try. Go me.
